I first read about this connection in the mid-90s in a post in the Classic RMIM by Dr Gurbakshish Singh Bagga (=guri). Sahir was inspired by Amir Khusro to write a few lines in that famous Roshan Qawwali, Ye Ishq Ishq hai Ishq Ishq.

I will transcribe the last eight lines of this poem called, Varsha Ka Agman (=Arrival of Rain) by Amir Khusro in praise of Hazrat Nizamuddin Chishti.

In December 1954, Govt of India sent an 8-member team on a goodwill mission to the Middle East. AR Kardar was a part of the team. In a report published by him, he gave the money made by the film Aan in Egypt. He used these figures to convince other producers to make pictures like that and send to the Middle-East.
